[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] The nomination of Min Kyung-wook, a member of the Future United Party, for Incheon Yeonsu-eul has been finalized. Although the party's nomination management committee accepted the party leadership's decision to invalidate nominations in four constituencies and requested the cancellation of Min's nomination, the request was not accepted.

On the night of the 25th, Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn held an emergency supreme council meeting to discuss this matter but ultimately dismissed the nomination cancellation request from the party's nomination committee.

Previously, the nomination committee requested the cancellation of Min's nomination, citing the Incheon City Election Commission's decision that Min violated election laws during his campaign activities, and re-nominated former lawmaker Min Hyun-joo, who had competed in the primary.

However, the supreme council did not accept this and confirmed Min's nomination. Lee Jin-bok, the Future United Party's general election campaign headquarters chief, explained, "We restored the matter to its original state based on the judgment that it was not a legally serious issue."

Min was initially cut off (excluded from nomination) but gained an opportunity through the supreme council's reconsideration request and won the primary. In effect, he was saved twice by the supreme council.

Besides this, the supreme council also dismissed the nomination committee's decisions to cancel nominations in four other constituencies.

Although the nomination committee opposed the supreme council's decision and was concerned about it being perceived as a major conflict, it re-nominated candidates in two of the four constituencies. However, the supreme council did not accept this and decided to determine the winner through a public opinion poll primary. Accordingly, in Busan Geumjeong-gu, former Busan City Council Chairman Baek Jong-heon and former Geumjeong-gu Mayor Won Jeong-hee, who were initially excluded from the nomination, will compete in a primary held over one day.

In Gyeongbuk Gyeongju City, a primary was planned between cut-off lawmaker Kim Seok-ki and Kim Won-gil, the party's committee chairman for the grassroots economy, but no agreement has been reached between the candidates.

For Gyeonggi Hwaseong and Gyeonggi Uiwang-Gwacheon, where the nomination committee delegated candidate recommendations to the supreme council, former Liberty Korea Party district chairman Im Myeong-bae and former Gwacheon Mayor Shin Gye-yong were nominated, respectively.
