[Public Officials' Assets] Governor Lee Jae-myung 'Decreases' · Superintendent Lee Jae-jung 'Increases'

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] It has been revealed that the assets of Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, have decreased, while the assets of Lee Jae-jeong, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, have increased.

According to the 2020 regular asset change report disclosed on the 26th by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee, Governor Lee reported 2,329.8 million KRW, a decrease of 521.7 million KRW compared to the previous year.

There were factors that increased assets, such as the value change (an increase of about 130 million KRW) of a 164.25㎡ apartment in Seongnam-si jointly owned by him and his spouse, and a 42.46㎡ apartment in Gunpo-si owned by Governor Lee’s mother (deceased). However, increased expenditures on deposits and insurance owned by him and his spouse (a decrease of about 960 million KRW) contributed to the overall decrease in assets.

Lee Jae-jeong, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, reported assets of 774.8 million KRW, an increase of 54.4 million KRW compared to last year.

Kim Hee-gyeom, First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, reported 1,276 million KRW, an increase of 79.1 million KRW; Lee Hyung-cheol, Head of Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, reported 519 million KRW, a decrease of 130.1 million KRW; and Hwang Seong-tae, Head of Gyeonggi Hwanghae Free Economic Zone Authority, reported 1,108.4 million KRW, an increase of 228 million KRW.

Deputy Governor Kim’s assets increased slightly due to value changes in a 29.17㎡ officetel in Suwon-si owned by himself and a 59.99㎡ apartment in Sejong-si.

Song Han-jun, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, reported 477.1 million KRW, an increase of 129 million KRW.

Among the top 10 total assets of heads of basic local governments nationwide, two from the province’s 31 mayors and county heads were listed: Eom Tae-jun, Mayor of Icheon (5th place), and Choi Dae-ho, Mayor of Anyang (6th place).

Mayor Eom reported 5,584 million KRW, an increase of 503 million KRW compared to the previous year, due to value changes in commercial buildings in Icheon-si owned by his spouse and an apartment in Seoul (an increase of 541.4 million KRW), as well as changes in deposits.

Mayor Choi reported 4,827.2 million KRW, a decrease of 434.6 million KRW compared to last year.
