[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Among the parties in the National Assembly, the average assets of members belonging to the United Future Party (excluding asset holders with over 50 billion KRW) were found to be the highest.
According to the '2020 Annual Asset Change Report' announced by the National Assembly Public Officials Ethics Committee on the 26th, the United Future Party ranked first with an average asset of 3,434,938,000 KRW among parties excluding asset holders with over 50 billion KRW (including members Kim Sam-hwa, Kim Soo-min, Kim Jung-ro, and Lee Dong-seop).
The Minsheng Party ranked second with 2,661,545,000 KRW, and the Future Korea Party was third with 1,837,823,000 KRW. Following were the Democratic Party of Korea with 1,831,105,000 KRW, the People's Party with 1,024,830,000 KRW (including member Lee Tae-gyu), the Justice Party with 633,624,000 KRW, and the Liberty Republican Party with 332,744,000 KRW.
Parties with only one incumbent member were the Pro-Park New Party (Hong Moon-jong, 8,108,409,000 KRW), the Open Democratic Party (Son Hye-won, 4,635,835,000 KRW), and the Minjung Party (Kim Jong-hoon, 271,450,000 KRW).
There are three asset holders with over 50 billion KRW: Kim Byung-kwan of the Democratic Party, former chairman of the board of Webzen (231,144,490,000 KRW); Kim Se-yeon of the United Future Party, major shareholder of Dongil Rubber Belt (85,334,103,000 KRW); and Park Deok-heum of the United Future Party, founder of Wonhwa Corporation (55,085,024,000 KRW).
Excluding these three, Democratic Party member Park Jung, who operated the Park Jung Language Institute, held the largest assets at 31,410,857,000 KRW. Following were United Future Party members ranked high in asset order: Choi Kyo-il (26,036,733,000 KRW), Sung Il-jong (20,954,999,000 KRW), Yoon Sang-hyun (16,588,523,000 KRW), Kang Seok-ho (16,318,810,000 KRW), Kim Moo-sung (12,362,182,000 KRW), and Kim Sam-hwa (10,093,840,000 KRW).
