[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Nonghyup Distribution, which operates Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, a specialty agricultural and food store, introduced the first-grade antibiotic-free eggs ‘Mamran’ on the 25th.
Mamran is a first-grade antibiotic-free egg produced using the patented ‘polyphenol nanocoating’ technology developed by Hansol Poultry in Dangjin, Chungnam, in collaboration with the KAIST research team. The coating technology uses polyphenol, an eco-friendly natural edible ingredient, which provides a sterilizing effect against harmful bacteria when applied to eggs. Polyphenol is a natural antioxidant known to be effective in anti-aging and Alzheimer's prevention.
Additionally, the polyphenol nanocoating helps maintain freshness and extends the shelf life, allowing consumers to enjoy fresh and healthy eggs for a longer period, and keeps the eggs safe to eat at room temperature for more than two weeks.
In particular, the hens laying Mamran eggs are raised stress-free in hygienic environments and welfare-type cages, without the use of laying stimulants, growth promoters, antibiotics, or pesticides.
At Nonghyup Distribution Hanaro Mart Yangjae branch, Mamran eggs are sold at 3,190 KRW for a pack of 10 and 4,200 KRW for a pack of 15. As a promotional event for the store opening, customers who purchase two packs of 15 eggs will receive one additional pack of 10 eggs. This offer is valid while supplies last. Starting from the 30th, Mamran eggs will also be available at the Changdong branch.
