Kia Motors Georgia Plant in the U.S. to Halt Production Until Next Month 10 Due to COVID-19 Hyundai Kia Motors Yangjae-dong Headquarters.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kia Motors' Georgia plant in the United States (KMMG) has decided to further suspend production from the 30th of this month until the 10th of next month due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

On the 25th, Kia announced that it would extend the production suspension at the Georgia plant related to COVID-19. Accordingly, Kia's Georgia plant is scheduled to resume vehicle production from the 13th of next month.

Previously, Kia's Georgia plant halted production starting on the 19th after Hyundai Motor's Alabama plant, which supplies engines, closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19. However, it temporarily resumed operations from the 23rd using engine inventory.

Kia's Georgia plant produces models such as the K5, Sorento, and Telluride. Last year, it produced a total of 274,000 vehicles.
