[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Daedong Industrial announced on the 24th that it has signed a business agreement for 'joint research on agricultural robots' with the Korea Institute of Robot Convergence.
The business agreement ceremony was held the day before at Daedong Industrial's Seoul office located in Seocho-dong, Seoul. Through this agreement, Daedong Industrial will focus on joint platform research with the Robot Convergence Institute on agricultural robots and multipurpose electric mobility for agriculture. They also plan to jointly promote new national projects, cooperate on technical education and technology transfer, and conduct joint seminars and workshops.
Daedong Industrial plans to enter the global market in the field of agricultural robots by promoting overseas joint research projects related to precision agriculture with the Robot Convergence Institute. Precision agriculture is an agricultural solution service that uses information and communication technology (ICT) to analyze the cultivation environment such as crop growth, soil, pests, and diseases in real time, providing cultivation solutions for fertilizer, water, labor, etc., to maximize production.
Last year, Daedong Industrial became the first domestic agricultural machinery company to develop and showcase a straight-line autonomous rice transplanter capable of single-person rice planting.
Won Yoo-hyun, CEO of Daedong Industrial, said, "The domestic agricultural environment is facing new challenges due to the aging and declining rural population and environmental pollution caused by conventional farming." He added, "This agreement marks the beginning of research on precision agriculture and electrification to coexist with the environment and maximize production per unit area, and it is the first step for Daedong Industrial to become a total agricultural solution company."
