Resident confirmed positive on the 21st, disinfection activities conducted at home and nearby areas... Movement and measures disclosed via website and SNS
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has reported 2 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Jungnang-gu to 8. The confirmed patients were diagnosed on the 21st and are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment at a residential treatment center.
The district immediately informed residents via text messages about the confirmed cases through epidemiological investigations and also disclosed infection routes on its website.
Additionally, disinfection was carried out at the relevant residences and visited locations to minimize residents' anxiety.
In particular, one of the confirmed patients, patient number 7, was found to have used a local PC bang, a multi-use facility, on March 17 and 18 over two days.
Accordingly, Jungnang-gu placed all users who visited the PC bang under self-quarantine and began specimen collection on March 22. As of 6 p.m. on the 22nd, 153 people had undergone specimen collection and tested negative.
The district plans to conduct another specimen collection after two weeks to accurately determine infection status. All PC bang users, including those who tested negative, remain under self-quarantine. The self-quarantined residents are monitored twice daily by a dedicated monitoring team composed of Jungnang-gu office staff and receive continuous support including daily necessities.
The PC bang is currently closed, and since it is a multi-use facility, the district has informed the public of the measures taken through banners, text messages, and the website.
Furthermore, not only visitors on March 17 and 18 but also those who visited the facility between March 17 and 21 were advised to visit screening clinics for medical examination.
The district quickly disclosed information despite the holiday, conducting detailed and accurate tracking of movement paths to prevent increased anxiety among residents due to delayed information release.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu stated, “We will thoroughly identify close contacts to prevent local transmission,” adding, “We will strengthen quarantine activities while delivering accurate information through thorough epidemiological investigations. We ask residents to practice social distancing and refrain from unnecessary use of multi-use facilities.”
Jungnang-gu is conducting a full survey of local PC bangs and sending letters regarding COVID-19 prevention guidelines. It is also recommending the suspension of operations and enforcing compliance with infectious disease prevention rules at sports facilities such as gyms, focusing on intensive disinfection of multi-use facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
