"Overcoming COVID-19 with Love"... Guro-gu's Continuous Acts of Sharing


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) continues to receive helping hands for neighbors struggling due to COVID-19.


In Guro 1-dong, there is a resident who donates handmade cotton masks to the community center every day. Since the 12th, about 10 masks have been donated daily, totaling 80 masks.


The resident said, "I made these masks with care to give to low-income elderly who have difficulty purchasing masks," and added, "I will continue donating until the mask supply stabilizes."


In Gaebong 3-dong, an anonymous middle school student touched many hearts by donating 100 dental masks to the community center for those in financial hardship.


Donations of money from various sectors have also continued.


Couple Park Gap-yong and Bang Soon-jeon (representatives of USCDI) donated 15 million won to help those struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, and Taebal Fur (CEO Kim Seong-hak) and Daejeong (CEO Kim Jong-wan) each donated 10 million won.


Oryu 2-dong Saemaeul Geumgo (Chairman Choi Seong-su) donated 5 million won for purchasing infection prevention supplies, and Bethel Church in Guro 3-dong (Senior Pastor Kwak Joo-hwan), MP Interactive (CEO Kim Kyung-ja), and Dongguro Saemaeul Geumgo (Chairman Lee Gye-myeong) each donated 5 million won to support low-income residents in Guro-gu.


Oryu 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee (Chairman Kim Chang-beom) donated 2.24 million won, Oryu 2-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee (Chairwoman Kim Soon-ja) donated 2.1 million won, and Geumsangcheomhwa in Oryu 1-dong (CEO Pyo Young-hee), Namguro Korean-Chinese Mission Church (Senior Pastor Lee Choong-sung), and Nampyeong IT (CEO Lee Jung-hee) each donated 1 million won.


Material sponsorships also continued.


Biz Dream (CEO Noh Jae-shin) donated 1,000 cotton masks and 450 bottles of disinfectant (100mL), Geosan Green Safety (CEO Lee Min-cheol) donated 100 bottles of disinfectant (500mL) and 720 gloves, Daker (CEO Yang Kang-yeol) donated 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer (500mL), Natjeong Information & Communication (CEO Lee Kwang-young) donated 100 bottles of hand sanitizer (400mL), and Oryu 1-dong Saemaeul Geumgo (Chairman Min Hyuk-geun) donated 10 containers of disinfectant (20L).

At Gaebong 1-dong Community Center, the Integrated Defense Council (Chairman Hwang Jae-won) donated six 10kg bags of white rice, and two local residents donated 17 bags and 4 bags respectively.


A Guro-gu official said, "We sincerely thank everyone who sent warm hearts," and added, "We hope that with one heart and one mind, we can overcome COVID-19 as soon as possible."
