[Interview②] Kim Sungkyu: "'Banui Ban' Drama and Melodrama First Challenge, Filming Was Fun"

Actor Kim Sung-kyu expressed his anticipation for ‘Half of Half’.

On the morning of the 23rd, Kim Sung-kyu shared various stories about the Netflix original series ‘Kingdom 2’ (written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Park In-je) during an online video interview.

Recently, Kim Sung-kyu has been actively filming for the tvN drama ‘Half of Half,’ playing Kang In-wook, a classical pianist recognized among musicians.

When asked which genre he is more familiar with between action and romance, Kim Sung-kyu replied, “I am more familiar with action. I have performed a lot of action scenes in many films before, so it is a genre I am comfortable with.”

Regarding the ongoing filming of ‘Half of Half,’ Kim Sung-kyu said, “This is my first challenge in a drama. Since it is a work with the emotion of love, I wondered if I could do well while preparing,” adding, “It won’t be a purely soft and tender melodrama.”

He continued, “I am working hard in preparation and filming, and I think it’s going well,” and “I am having fun filming with the other actors.”

Meanwhile, ‘Kingdom 2’ is a mystery thriller depicting a Joseon in crisis where the dead have risen to create a living hell, the greed of the Jo family vying for royal power, and the bloody struggle of Crown Prince Lee Chang (played by Ju Ji-hoon), who can trust no one. Kim Sung-kyu plays Yeong-shin, a character skilled in remarkable swordsmanship but hiding a past. The series was released on Netflix on the 13th.
