Dream Material Graphene Applied... K2 Launches Hiking Shoes

[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Outdoor brand K2 launched the hiking shoe ‘Flyhike Rex,’ which provides comfortable cushioning for long walks, on the 23rd.

Flyhike Rex is the first in Korea to apply the innovative carbon-based new material graphene to footwear. The shoe’s midsole is equipped with high-elasticity graphene foam, offering excellent cushioning, flexibility, as well as antibacterial and deodorizing effects.

Graphene is a nano-material consisting of carbon atoms arranged in a honeycomb pattern in a thin sheet form. It is lightweight, durable, and highly elastic. Flyhike Rex uses graphene produced by the Korean graphene manufacturer Standard Graphene. Standard Graphene is known as a global manufacturer that mass-produces high-quality powder-type graphene.

Additionally, the shoe features Gore-Tex Invisible Fit bonding technology, which bonds the inner and outer layers of the shoe into one. This makes the shoe lightweight while providing excellent waterproof, breathable, and quick-drying functions, keeping feet comfortable even after long hours of wear.

With Perfect Fit technology optimized for the shape of Korean feet, the shoe enhances the integration between foot and shoe, ensuring excellent comfort even after prolonged use. The IX Grip outsole, which increases friction resistance, offers superior traction and abrasion resistance, providing stable grip in urban walking as well as hiking and mountaineering environments without slipping.

The shoe applies a lightweight Boa dial system for convenience and is unisex, available in four colors: black, navy, gray, and coral. The price is 229,000 KRW.
