[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver subsidiary Snow announced on the 16th that it has launched 'KREAM,' a limited-edition sneaker trading platform.
'Resell' is a method of securing price differences by reselling newly purchased products. Traditionally, the market was centered around overseas luxury brands, but recently, the variety of items has been diversifying to include rare sneakers, art toys, and more.
In particular, it has spread mainly among Millennials and Generation Z, to the extent that a new term 'Sticker Tech (Sneakers + Investment)' has emerged. According to statistics from the US investment bank Cowen and Company, the global sneaker resale market is expected to grow to about $6 billion (approximately 7 trillion KRW) by 2025.
Snow stated, "KREAM is expected to secure global users in the resale market through an intuitive interface and a safe trading platform free from counterfeit concerns."
KREAM features the ability to accurately grasp market price information such as bid prices by size at a glance before trading. Transactions are conducted anonymously only when the desired prices of sellers and buyers match, based on real-time fluctuating data.
They have also secured a safe trading mechanism by operating a professional inspection team that guarantees quality. After a transaction is completed, the seller sends the product to the inspection center, where the box, product tags, contamination, and counterfeit status are thoroughly examined, and only approved products are delivered to the buyer. Sellers can also trade with peace of mind without worrying about returns due to simple change of mind.
The KREAM application provides review videos from domestic and international influencers on the products for sale, along with translations. The offline showroom exhibits about 200 pairs of limited-edition sneakers.
Kim Mijin, KREAM leader, said, "KREAM aims to be a platform where customers who enjoy sneakers and the resale market can interact based on products and content, beyond a simple trading intermediary platform," adding, "In the future, we will contribute to popularizing sneaker culture through online and offline linked services and events, such as exhibiting celebrity collections offline."
