[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gachon University (President Lee Gil-yeo) is building an online learning system by the end of this month in preparation for difficulties in face-to-face lectures due to COVID-19. Gachon University had previously postponed the semester start date by 4 weeks to the 30th of this month.
On the 13th, Gachon University announced that it decided to prepare an online video lecture service to respond to the spread of COVID-19 and partnered with Naver Business Platform to introduce a CDN (Contents Delivery Network) service based on the Naver Cloud Platform. CDN is a network service that can provide video lectures to students without interruption even when large traffic occurs.
The first semester offers 3,519 courses, enabling stable online lectures without server overload even if many students access the online lectures simultaneously.
The cloud-based CDN service introduced by Gachon University applies Naver Cloud Platform’s VOD Station. VOD Station is a service that gathers all functions to easily and quickly build VOD services. It is characterized by allowing customers to conveniently implement the desired VOD streaming service.
Along with this, Gachon University also introduced a video lecture system capable of interactive education such as online chatting.
Lee Young-ho, Director of the Computer Information Center at Gachon University, said, "We received intensive consultation and support from experts from consulting to actual construction," and added, "Thanks to the cloud’s flexible scalability, we expect to provide online education services without failure even if a large number of students access simultaneously."
