[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] Kim Mi-gyun, CEO of CJON, aged 34, was given a priority recommendation (strategic nomination) as the United Future Party's candidate for Seoul Gangnam-byeong on the 12th. In Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong-si Eul, Kim Yong-tae, former co-representative of the New Conservative Party, aged 29, was strategically nominated.
Kim Hyung-oh, the nomination committee chairman of the United Future Party, held a briefing at the National Assembly on the same day and announced these additional nomination results.
Chairman Kim introduced CEO Kim Mi-gyun, saying, "At 22, she founded Korea's top social media service. It is the only company in Korea that prevents malicious comments and has grown into the world's 5th largest company in the SNS field as a female entrepreneur." He added, "She has over 1,200 client companies including more than 400 media outlets and has successfully operated for 13 years."
He emphasized, "She decided to run to represent the voice of social venture entrepreneurs and to lead innovation in Korea."
Kim, the former co-representative who received the nomination for Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong-si Eul as part of the 'Youth Belt,' draws attention for being only 29 years old. Cheon Ha-ram, born in 1986 and leader of the Young Conservatives, was also confirmed as the candidate for Jeonnam Suncheon-si, Gwangyang-si, Gokseong-gun, and Gurye-gun Gap.
On the same day, the nomination committee also announced nominations for some areas in Honam. Beom Gi-cheol, director of the Honam Uibyung Research Institute, was solely recommended for Gwangju Buk-gu Gap; Kim Young-an, former president of Seonam University, received the nomination for Jeonbuk Iksan-si Gap; Hwang Gyu-won, director of the Character Contents Culture Promotion Institute, was nominated for Jeonnam Mokpo-si; and Shim Jeong-woo, former invited professor of Tourism Management at Honam University, was solely recommended for Jeonnam Yeosu-si Eul.
Additionally, nominations for Gangwon and Gyeongbuk regions, where some cities and counties were readjusted due to electoral district reorganization, were revised and announced.
