According to Daegu City on the 9th, as of midnight, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Daegu reached 5,571, an increase of 190 from the previous day.

The number of new confirmed cases has steadily decreased since peaking at 741 on the 29th of last month, with 514 on the 1st, 405 on the 4th, 367 on the 6th, and 297 on the 8th.

The city analyzed that "this reflects the nearing completion of diagnostic testing among Shincheonji church members."

However, since more than 100 new cases are still being reported daily among the general public, it is premature to be complacent.

Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin emphasized at the regular briefing, "This shows that the infectious disease spread among Shincheonji church members has widely expanded into the local community," adding, "Now is the time to be even more vigilant and strengthen quarantine measures."

Meanwhile, as of the previous day, 96 patients were hospitalized at Keimyung University Daegu Dongsan Hospital, Armed Forces Daegu Hospital, Gongju Medical Center, and others, with a total of 2,090 confirmed patients receiving inpatient treatment at 23 hospitals nationwide. An additional 110 patients are scheduled to be admitted today.

Also, 22 patients were discharged from hospitals and 35 were released from residential treatment centers the previous day, totaling 57 recoveries. The total number of recovered patients to date is 93.
