[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Mixed martial artist Jung Chan-sung warned Brian Ortega, who assaulted singer Park Jaebeom, that he would "make his face a bloody mess."
On the 9th, Jung Chan-sung posted a lengthy message on his Instagram, saying, "You (Ortega) are a coward who hits a musician, not a fighter," and added, "I will fight you, so I hope you never run away again."
He also criticized Ortega, saying, "He (Park Jaebeom) is not a fighter but a singer. You just hit an ordinary person who was helping with interpretation," and "It is worse that you did it while I was not there. What you did is like an adult hitting a child."
The day before (the 8th), Ariel Helwani, an ESPN reporter, revealed on his Twitter that "Korean musician Park Jaebeom was hit by Brian Ortega," sparking controversy over Ortega's assault.
According to reporter Helwani, after Jung Chan-sung went to the restroom, Ortega approached Park Jaebeom and asked, "Are you Park Jaebeom?" When Park Jaebeom confirmed, Ortega slapped him on the cheek.
Park Jaebeom recently served as an interpreter for Jung Chan-sung during an interview with reporter Helwani.
Regarding this, Park Jaebeom's agency AOMG stated, "It is true that there was a dispute involving Ortega," and explained, "The situation was resolved as security guards quickly intervened and escorted him out."
They added, "The artist was not injured and is currently in perfect health."
