194 COVID-19 Deaths in Iran

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 8th (local time) at noon, the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that the number of deaths from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) increased by 49 from the previous day, reaching 194.
This is the highest daily death toll since the first COVID-19 death was reported in Iran on February 19. The daily COVID-19 death toll in Iran has been rising for six consecutive days since the 3rd (11 deaths). The number of new deaths on this day is more than double that of the previous day (21 deaths). Iran ranks third in the world in cumulative COVID-19 deaths, following China and Italy.
The number of new confirmed cases increased by 13% to 743, bringing the total confirmed cases to 6,566. Iran's COVID-19 fatality rate is 3.0%, similar to the global average of 3.4%. The cumulative number of recovered patients is 2,131, with a recovery rate of 33% among confirmed cases.
Iran's state-owned Iran Air announced on the 8th that "European countries have banned Iran Air's flights on European routes due to uncertainties," and that "flights between Tehran and Europe will be suspended starting today."
Iran Air operated European routes including Frankfurt and Hamburg in Germany, Stockholm in Sweden, Paris in France, London in the United Kingdom, and Rome in Italy.
