Gwanak-gu Reports 5th COVID-19 Case: 8-Year-Old Girl Confirmed


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) reported the fifth confirmed case of COVID-19 in the district on the 7th.


The fifth confirmed case is an 8-year-old girl residing in Boramae-dong, Gwanak-gu, who was identified to have met her great-grandmother on her maternal side living in Daegu (confirmed positive on March 2) on February 22.


The confirmed patient arrived at her home in Boramae-dong after 10 a.m. on February 23, using her father's private car from KTX Gwangmyeong Station, accompanied by her mother.


On February 24, in the afternoon, she visited the Boramae-dong Community Service Center with her parents to register her residence, all wearing masks. Around 10 p.m., she visited Paris Baguette Eunchun-gil Entrance Branch (1 Eunchun-ro) and the Gwanak Post Office ATM on foot with her parents.


From February 25 to 29, she stayed at home, and on March 1 around 7 p.m., she visited Myeongpum Hoengseong Hanwoo Restaurant (266 Bongcheon-ro) with her parents and two of her father's friends.


From March 2 to 5, she remained at home. Following the confirmation of her great-grandmother living in Daegu, she visited the Gwanak-gu Public Health Center screening clinic with her mother at around 2:30 p.m. on March 6 for testing.


On March 7 at 4 p.m., she was notified of a positive test result and was transferred to Boramae Hospital, a nationally designated hospital. Her parents tested negative.


Gwanak-gu completed thorough disinfection of the confirmed patient's home, visited locations, and surrounding areas on the same day, and notified close contacts to self-quarantine.


Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, “We will prioritize the lives and safety of our residents and make every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. Please do not have excessive anxiety that threatens daily life, and we ask that you follow COVID-19 behavioral guidelines such as hand washing, wearing masks at all times, and practicing proper cough etiquette.”
