Jungnang-gu, Full Effort for Customized Support to COVID-19 Crisis Households Jungnang-gu Office employees are delivering essential goods sets to households under self-quarantine.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The impact of COVID-19 shows no signs of weakening. COVID-19 has led to reduced consumption, which is shaking local economies. When the economy worsens, everyone inevitably faces difficulties, but the most concerning group remains the low-income population.

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has actively stepped up to ensure stable daily lives for households in crisis who are suddenly facing hardships due to COVID-19.

First, households under self-quarantine receive essential goods such as rice and ramen worth approximately 100,000 KRW per household to help stabilize their daily lives during isolation.

When a quarantined household is identified, essential daily necessities and health kits are delivered by visit, with items placed at the door to avoid contact. After maintaining a safe distance, receipt of the items is confirmed by phone.

As of the 6th, 96 households have been supported, with 7 of those receiving additional necessary supplies.

Additionally, low-income households experiencing economic difficulties such as business closures, layoffs, or suspensions due to COVID-19 are receiving Seoul-type emergency living expenses, with 8 households supported so far.

The amount of living expense support varies according to the number of household members. Eligibility criteria include being at or below 85% of the median income (based on a 4-person household/3,921,506 KRW), general property valued under 257 million KRW, and financial assets under 10 million KRW. Applications are being accepted at local community service centers.

Furthermore, households released from quarantine or hospitalization who have faithfully followed quarantine rules receive living support funds based on the quarantine period to help offset income loss caused by COVID-19. To date, approximately 9.3 million KRW has been provided to 17 households.

For inquiries, contact the Jungnang-gu Office Welfare Policy Division (☎2094-1610) or local community service centers to receive information on national and Seoul-type basic livelihood security and other support programs for low-income groups.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu stated, “Through tailored support, we will do our utmost to help residents facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 quickly regain stable daily lives.”
