[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 6th, the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters of Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do announced that three medical institutions in the Yeosu area have been designated as 'National Safe Hospitals' where treatment is possible without worrying about COVID-19.
A 'National Safe Hospital' is a facility that operates dedicated treatment zones (outpatient and inpatient) exclusively for respiratory patients to block the possibility of hospital-acquired COVID-19 infections, and separates all patient flows from other patients during treatment.
Yeosu City designated one general hospital (Yeocheon Jeonnam Hospital) and two hospitals (Yeosu Hanguk Hospital and Yeosu Jeil Hospital) as National Safe Hospitals, and Yeosu Jeonnam Hospital is preparing to apply additionally.
All three hospitals that applied for designation operate dedicated outpatient zones for respiratory patients and run screening clinics capable of specimen collection.
A city official said, "Patients with non-respiratory diseases such as hypertension and heart disease should visit National Safe Hospitals, and if COVID-19 symptoms are suspected, please first consult with the local health center or the 1339 call center and then visit the screening clinic."
