[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 6th that it will introduce an ‘Automated System for Issuing Construction Equipment Operator Licenses’ with significantly reduced processing time and anti-counterfeiting features.
The county has drastically shortened the license issuance time from about 30 minutes to approximately 5 minutes by introducing an automated system that issues construction equipment operator licenses in PVC card form, similar to driver’s licenses and resident registration cards, instead of the existing paper-coated licenses.
It is also expected to resolve inconveniences previously experienced due to vulnerability to moisture and peeling issues.
In particular, the card-type operator license is embedded with a hologram for anti-counterfeiting, which is anticipated to be effective in managing construction equipment operator licenses.
A county official said, “We expect to realize advanced license administration by resolving the inconveniences of the existing paper-coated licenses, improving license quality, and significantly reducing waiting times for civil petitioners. We will continue to strive to enhance the satisfaction of construction equipment license administration that residents can feel.”
As of the end of last year, the number of registered construction equipment (excavators, forklifts, etc.) in the county is 1,663, and the number of construction equipment operators reaches 3,800. Along with aptitude tests, the county issues about 100 licenses every month.
