[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Minsheng Party has recruited former Justice Party Vice-Chairman Lim Han-sol, known as the 'Chaser of Jeon Du-hwan,' and former Sungkyunkwan University professor Nam Jung-sook, who made Me Too (Me too - I was also a victim) allegations. These are the first recruits since the merger of the Bareunmirae Party, the Alternative New Party, and the Democratic Peace Party.

On the 6th, a key official of the Minsheng Party said, "We are announcing the recruitment of former Vice-Chairman Lim, the chaser of Jeon Du-hwan, and former professor Nam, who was the first to make Me Too allegations in the academic community," adding, "(Former Vice-Chairman Lim) is a young person who took the lead in upholding the value of justice and also holds symbolic significance in Honam."

Last November, former Vice-Chairman Lim released a video showing Jeon Du-hwan, who is said to be suffering from Alzheimer's, playing golf with acquaintances at a golf course in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province. He also reported on a commemorative luncheon held with the main figures of the December 12 military coup.

In the video filmed by former Vice-Chairman Lim, when asked whether he gave the order to shoot during the May 18 Democratic Uprising, Jeon said, "Why would I be directly responsible? Why would I have given the order to shoot? I wasn't even in a position to give such an order. Would someone without command authority in the military give orders?" When asked when he would pay the confiscation amount exceeding 100 billion won and high taxes, he replied, "You pay it."

Former Vice-Chairman Lim left the Justice Party in January. He had been active as a member of the Seodaemun District Council in Seoul and hoped to run in the general election but did not receive the party's approval. In the Justice Party, an incumbent elected official must obtain a resolution from the Executive Committee to run for another public office.

Former Professor Nam is the person who revealed that she was sexually harassed by Professor Lee, then Dean of the Graduate School of Cultural Convergence at Sungkyunkwan University, in 2014 when she was a non-tenured professor at Sungkyunkwan University. As a result of this case, Professor Lee was sentenced in the October 2018 appellate trial to four months in prison with a two-year probation period and ordered to complete 80 hours of sexual violence treatment programs. Former Professor Nam was recognized by the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service as having suffered sexual violence at the university as an industrial accident.

On the same day, the Minsheng Party held an induction ceremony for former Vice-Chairman Lim, former Professor Nam, and former Uiwang Mayor Kim Sung-je at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly. Former Vice-Chairman Lim said, "Based on three keywords: reform, future generations, and realization of justice, I will become a member of the Minsheng Party and will surely receive greater authority from the people in this general election," adding, "(The Minsheng Party) will become a competent and capable reform party, and I will do my best to grow within it."

Former Professor Nam said, "The reason I chose the Minsheng Party is because I firmly believe that skilled professional politicians and passionate young politicians will harmonize old and new to realize grassroots politics," adding, "I will also play a role in developing a protective fence for ordinary citizens and the underprivileged by utilizing my professional capabilities."

Former Mayor Kim said, "Centrist reform, inclusive politics, and pragmatic policies will lead politics of conflict and division into politics of unity and revive the national economy," adding, "I will win the Gyeonggi Uiwang-Gwacheon election, establish a foothold in the metropolitan area, and help the Minsheng Party strengthen its foundation as a national party."
