Naju-si Executive Mutual Aid Association Encourages Public Officials Struggling with COVID-19

Naju-si Executive Mutual Aid Association Encourages Public Officials Struggling with COVID-19

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 5th that the Executive Mutual Aid Association (President Kim Yong-ok, General Affairs Director) delivered warm snacks to public officials working hard on COVID-19 response tasks.

The Executive Mutual Aid Association (President Kim Yong-ok, General Affairs Director), a gathering of public officials at grade 5 and above, delivered snacks worth about 100,000 to 150,000 KRW per department to boost the morale of junior public officials.

Earlier, as the fatigue of public officials has been accumulating daily due to the ongoing COVID-19 emergency response work since last month, the recent news of confirmed cases among public officials in other local governments has further dampened the internal atmosphere of the public service.

The city is operating a 24-hour emergency response system centered on the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, composed of 5 teams (General Situation, Quarantine Measures, Facility Management, Welfare Support, Public Relations Monitoring) and 13 departments to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In particular, three screening clinics (Health Center, Naju General Hospital, Bitgaram Health Promotion Center) are operated to focus on specimen testing and diagnosis of suspected patients, disinfection management of multi-use facilities, and promotion of preventive measures.

Since the 22nd confirmed patient was discharged after full recovery on the 15th of last month, there have been no confirmed COVID-19 cases to date.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “Due to the spread of COVID-19, recently public officials in other local governments have been confirmed positive, and unfortunately, some have even passed away due to overwork, leaving the public service community very exhausted. I thank the executive public officials who took the lead in changing the atmosphere of the public service and the city officials working hard on the front lines for the health of our citizens with their warm hearts.”

Meanwhile, the city employs 1,161 public officials across a total of 34 departments.
