Cases Reported in All Districts Except Jung-gu
"Monitoring Signs of Small-Scale Cluster Infections"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] As of 10 a.m. on the 5th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul increased by 7 from the previous day, totaling 105 cases.
With 2 new cases occurring in Gangbuk-gu, where there had been no cases until the previous day, confirmed cases have been reported in 24 out of the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, excluding Jung-gu.
Among the 105 confirmed cases in Seoul, 26 patients have been declared fully recovered and discharged, while 79 are currently in isolation. Of the 24,708 suspected patients tested for COVID-19, 20,294 tested negative, and the remaining 4,414 are awaiting results.
Breaking down the estimated causes of the 105 confirmed cases in Seoul: 15 are related to overseas contact, 14 to Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, 13 to an apartment in Seongdong-gu, 10 to Myeongnyun Church and Jongno Senior Welfare Center, 9 to visits to Daegu, 5 to contact with confirmed cases from other cities/provinces, 2 to Shincheonji Church, and 37 to other causes.
Na Baek-ju, Director of the Citizen Health Bureau, stated, "Small-scale cluster infections are emerging nationwide, and Seoul is closely monitoring whether there are confirmed cases showing signs currently." He added, "(Specifically) confirmed cases have occurred at Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, Myeongseong Church in Gangdong-gu, and the Police Hospital, and we are observing the signs, but there have been no additional cases so far."
