[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the United Future Party, said on the 5th that the letter from former President Park Geun-hye in prison was "a precious message released about 40 days before the general election, which should be a historic turning point," and added, "I will see through the remaining tasks of unification that have not yet been accomplished."

On the morning of the same day, Hwang held a Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly and said, "The letter from former President Park delivered yesterday was a welcome gift to all citizens wishing for the victory of the liberal democratic forces."

He emphasized unification, saying, "The message that we must never be divided in front of the cause called regime judgment reminds us once again of the importance of unity."

Regarding the internal nomination controversies within the party, he said, "Many people's feelings are mixed. Elections are a very painful time of sacrifice and concession, and it is also difficult because various goals such as election victory, generational change, and opportunity guarantee must be met simultaneously," adding, "Neither the nomination committee nor the candidates are at ease during this time."

He expressed regret, saying, "As the party leader, I am sorry that I cannot personally soothe everyone's feelings," and emphasized, "However, the road ahead is long, and there are many tasks to be done together even after the general election." He also added, "Everyone is a valuable resource, and we will go together. I will never forget this."
