Temporary Closure of Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seung-jin] Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch will temporarily close.

Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 4th that a partner employee who had been in self-quarantine since the 23rd of last month due to contact with a confirmed case was finally diagnosed positive, and therefore the store will close early on that day and temporarily close all floors on the 5th.

After being informed that the partner employee had contact with a confirmed case, the Daegu branch immediately sent the employee home, and the employee did not come to work thereafter due to self-quarantine.

The health authorities stated that the employee’s attendance on February 22, before self-quarantine, was not subject to epidemiological investigation, but Shinsegae decided to close early (4 PM) and temporarily close the store the next day proactively for the safety of customers and employees before the health authorities’ notification.

The Daegu branch is continuing disinfection work separately from this confirmed case.

A Shinsegae official said, “We will do our utmost in proactive disinfection activities and hygiene management to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of customers and employees.”
