[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] Six people were injured when a marine grenade exploded during maritime shooting on a Chamsuri-class fast patrol boat belonging to the Navy's 3rd Fleet.
On the 3rd, the Navy stated, "During maritime shooting training on a Navy fast patrol boat, a grenade exploded, resulting in 2 serious injuries and 4 minor injuries. The injured received first aid and are being transported to nearby hospitals."
The Navy is transporting the injured to specialized trauma centers such as the Pusan National University Regional Trauma Center. The Chamsuri-class fast patrol boat has a crew of about 30, with usually 25 to 28 on board.
The Navy added, "The injured are being transported to nearby hospitals after first aid, and the seriously injured are conscious. All naval and maritime shooting training has been suspended, and we will investigate the cause of the accident and devise measures to prevent recurrence."
