[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun visited and encouraged firefighters mobilized nationwide to transport patients infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
On the 29th, Prime Minister Chung visited the waiting area for on-site emergency and transport personnel at the Daegu Fire Headquarters and said, "Firefighters have faithfully and bravely performed their duties whenever there is a national disaster," adding, "I ask you to take pride in knowing that the public remembers and appreciates these efforts."
He continued, "During the wildfire disaster in Gangwon last April, firefighters from across the country rushed overnight and devoted themselves to minimizing damage, which moved many citizens," and added, "This time as well, the prompt nationwide mobilization order has greatly helped in the fight against COVID-19."
Currently, 872 fire vehicles and 3,251 firefighters from across the country have been mobilized and assembled in Daegu.
Prime Minister Chung said, "Every time firefighters have sacrificed, it has truly been heartbreaking," and urged, "Such sacrifices must never happen again. Let us thoroughly follow basic infection prevention rules, such as wearing personal protective equipment, and overcome COVID-19 together until the end."
