Gangnam-gu Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun Holds 4 PM Briefing, States "A 36-Year-Old Woman Living in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Among Confirmed Cases Is Presumed Infected by a 27-Year-Old Male Confirmed on the 26th, as They Live in the Same Villa; A 34-Year-Old Man in Gaepo-dong Apartment Is Presumed Infected by His Wife, a Female Confirmed Case Transferred from Jongno-gu Health Center"

Jung Soon-gyun, the mayor of Gangnam-gu, announced at 4 p.m. that four new confirmed cases of 'COVID-19' had been identified.

Mayor Jung stated, "Including a 28-year-old woman from an apartment in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, who was reported by the Jongno-gu Public Health Center yesterday, the total number of confirmed cases in Gangnam-gu has increased to seven," adding, "Among them, three are actual residents of Gangnam, while the other four are one each from Gwanak-gu in Seoul, Seongnam-si in Gyeonggi Province, Yangpyeong-gun in Gyeonggi Province, and Daegu."

In particular, among the confirmed cases today, a 36-year-old woman living in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, is presumed to have been infected as she lives in the same villa residence as a 27-year-old male confirmed case identified on the 26th. The 34-year-old man from an apartment in Gaepo-dong is the husband of a female confirmed case transferred from the Jongno-gu Public Health Center the previous day and is presumed to have been infected by his wife.

Also, a 36-year-old man living in Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, works at a company located on Teheran-ro in Gangnam-gu. On the morning of the 27th, he was tested at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center screening clinic and confirmed positive. According to the movement investigation, on the afternoon of the 22nd, he visited a junior colleague hospitalized at Catholic University Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital in Eunpyeong-gu and is presumed to have been infected after one hour of contact outside the hospital with the junior.

Furthermore, a 34-year-old man residing in a villa in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, who works as a PD at a video production company, has no clear infection route identified from the initial movement investigation. However, due to the nature of his job as a PD, it is presumed he was infected through contact with various people.

Mayor Jung said, "Immediately after the first confirmed case occurred on the 26th, we proactively conducted screening tests at the screening clinic for 170 residents of Apgujeong-dong and Gaepo-dong apartments and villa residents in Nonhyeon-dong, as well as four people including gym trainers and members. Among them, two tested positive: the husband of the female confirmed case from the Gaepo-dong apartment and a female resident of the villa."

He added, "Upon additional confirmed cases, we immediately notified the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Seoul City. We are currently preparing to transfer the four confirmed cases identified today to isolation beds."

Subsequently, Gangnam-gu voluntarily closed two company offices and a studio included in the confirmed cases' movement paths to prevent local spread of 'COVID-19.' Close contacts were placed under self-quarantine, and approximately 310 colleagues were instructed to undergo testing at nearby public health center screening clinics.

Additionally, first-round disinfection was conducted at 20 locations including markets, restaurants, coffee shops, tailor shops, and gyms visited by the confirmed cases.

Gangnam-gu stated that to minimize local spread, they will proactively conduct screening tests at the screening clinic for residents of apartments and villa residences where confirmed cases live, and will disclose more detailed movement paths of the confirmed cases to residents, taking necessary measures such as second-round disinfection.

Mayor Jung said, "Gangnam-gu is making every effort to minimize local spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of residents by taking proactive measures. We ask residents to trust Gangnam-gu, avoid unnecessary anxiety, and actively protect their own health and safety."

He concluded, "Please refrain from traveling to COVID-19 outbreak areas as much as possible, and strictly follow personal hygiene rules such as wearing masks and washing hands before and after going out."
