[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Hanssem announced on the 28th that it will carry out preventive disinfection work against the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) at 12 large-scale complex stores including Hanssem Design Parks nationwide and about 700 small- and medium-sized dealerships.
In the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, disinfection will be conducted up to once a day, while in other regions, disinfection activities will be carried out once or twice a week. To this end, a separate budget of 500 million KRW was urgently allocated, and additional budget and disinfection efforts will be expanded depending on the situation.
The disinfection will be performed using the ‘ULV (Ultra Low Volume) spray coating sterilization method,’ which sprays disinfectant in ultra-fine particles, using a product recognized by the Ministry of Environment for ‘human coronavirus sterilization.’
For Hanssem’s construction and AS (after-service) partner technicians who visit customers’ homes daily, a fever check is conducted every morning before they are dispatched to construction sites. The headquarters has prepared preventive measures against the virus by providing them with masks and hand sanitizers.
For employees facing difficulties with childcare due to school delays and daycare closures, a ‘family care leave’ system has been established and implemented to allow them to focus on their families. This is a measure by the headquarters to ensure that many field workers such as Hanssem’s construction technicians, AS technicians, sales staff, and logistics delivery workers can work safely.
Choi (45), who operates a Hanssem dealership in Mapo-gu, said, “Generally, interest in interior design increases in spring, but I am very worried that customers might feel anxious. It is very difficult for dealership owners to carry out disinfection work on their own, so they cannot even think about it, but since the headquarters is doing the disinfection work, the anxiety is relieved.”
Park (41), a Hanssem construction technician, said, “Every time I go to a new construction site, I was worried not only about my own and my family’s health but also about causing anxiety to customers. However, after checking my temperature every day before heading to the site, my worries have lessened.”
A Hanssem official said, “As concerns among field workers and customers have increased due to the spread of COVID-19, we decided to carry out disinfection and prevention activities at all Hanssem showrooms and business offices nationwide. Hanssem will put all efforts into disinfection activities at workplaces of headquarters employees, dealerships, and partner companies to ensure the safety of customers and field workers.”
