[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) announced on the 28th that one additional COVID-19 case has been confirmed.
The newly confirmed case (a 41-year-old woman from Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu) was identified through epidemiological investigation of the movements of Assistant Pastor A of Myeongseong Church. CCTV footage confirmed that she shared an apartment elevator with Pastor A without wearing a mask. On the 27th, she underwent a home specimen collection and testing at the Gangdong-gu Public Health Center, which resulted in a positive diagnosis.
The confirmed patient will be promptly transferred to a government-designated isolation hospital once assigned. Additional contacts, including family members, and her movements will be quickly identified and disclosed on the Gangdong-gu Office website as soon as results are available.
The district has initiated disinfection measures at the patient’s residence, surrounding areas, and all other identified locations. All personnel operating screening clinics have been mobilized to conduct thorough contact tracing and specimen collection swiftly.
Furthermore, in preparation for a potential increase in confirmed cases, the district is coordinating with city epidemiologists to conduct extensive and detailed investigations.
Between the 26th and 27th, COVID-19 tests were conducted on 228 individuals (142 on the 26th and 86 on the 27th) at the on-site screening clinic in front of Myeongseong Church, all of whom tested negative. These individuals will be strictly monitored to maintain a 14-day self-quarantine period.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, urged residents, “Please refrain from going out as much as possible and always wear a mask during daily activities.”
Gangdong-gu requests that anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms such as fever or cough contact the Gangdong-gu Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Call Center (☎3425-8570) to cooperate in preventing community transmission.
