Senior Civic Leaders Take Action to Block Mirae Hanguk Party... "Proposal for Progressive Election Coalition Party"

Political Reform Parties Agree to Run Elections Together as Proportional Representation under the Political Reform Alliance
The Difference from Satellite Parties Is That Members Return to Their Original Parties After the Election
Regarding the Democratic Party's Failure to Counter Mirae Hangukdang, "They Were Naive... It's Not Something to Be More Criticized For"

Senior Civic Leaders Take Action to Block Mirae Hanguk Party... "Proposal for Progressive Election Coalition Party" Senior figures from civil society held a press conference on the morning of the 28th at Heungsadan in Daehangno, proposing the establishment of the Political Reform Alliance to block the Future Korea Party and complete political reform.

[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Senior figures in civil society have decided to establish a progressive coalition party to counter the Future Korea Party.

Lee Bu-young, former chairman of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union, Kim Sam-woong, former director of the Independence Hall, and actor Moon Sung-geun held a press conference on the morning of the 28th at Heungsadan in Daehak-ro to propose the founding of the Political Reform Coalition (tentative name). They stated, "We propose an electoral coalition party to complete political reform and block the unprecedented trick of the Future Korea Party."

They emphasized, "The election law, which was created to properly represent the will of the people, is again rendered powerless by the malicious tricks of the United Future Party. We must create an electoral coalition party to block the unprecedented trick of the Future Korea Party and complete political reform."

They added, "Proportional representatives from parties that agree on completing political reform should come together under the tentative name Political Reform Coalition to contest the election. After the election, the elected members should return to their original parties to complete political reform through discussion."

Regarding the Democratic Party's failure to respond to the proportional party incident, they stated, "It can be criticized as naive to trust the opponent's sound common sense, but it is not more blameworthy than the cunning of the group that threw that common sense aside."

Attorney Ha Seung-soo said, "The Future Korea Party holds 21 out of 30 seats under the semi-proportional representation system with less than 40% support," and added, "I propose to counter tricks with straightforward methods." He explained, "The purpose of today's press conference is for civil society to urgently overcome the crisis through a coalition party in this emergency situation."

Regarding whether there was communication with existing parties such as the Democratic Party, Jo Sung-woo, co-chair of the National Sovereign Assembly, said, "There was none," and added, "We are making the proposal starting today." He emphasized, "People involved in civil society movements are always straightforward; there is no beating around the bush." Attorney Ha added, "If the public supports us, I believe existing parties will also move together."

When asked if this is a satellite party similar to the Future Korea Party, Attorney Ha explained, "Satellite parties are hastily formed before elections and absorbed back into the main party after the election. The Political Reform Coalition operates with its own identity normally, forms a coalition during elections, and then resumes its own party activities afterward."

The Political Reform Coalition plans to hold a founding initiators' meeting over the weekend and register the founding preparation committee with the Central Election Commission on the 2nd of next month. To this end, they will start recruiting founding initiators through the National Sovereign Assembly website from today and begin preparations for founding provincial and central parties.

Attorney Ha said, "This discussion had to proceed quite urgently," and added, "Since time is tight, we will encourage maximum citizen participation and build a cooperative system with our parties." He also requested, "We ask many citizens to join in recruiting initiators through the National Sovereign Assembly website."

Meanwhile, attendees at the press conference included Kim Sam-woong, former director of the Independence Hall; Kim Won-woong, chairman of the Liberation Association; Kim Jeong-ran, professor at Sangji University; Kim Jae-seung of the Mincheongryeon Comrades Association; Kim Jeong-heon, chairman of the 4.16 Foundation; actor Moon Sung-geun; Bae Daji, standing chairman of the National Square; Yang Gil-seung, former director of Green Hospital; Lee Bu-young, former chairman of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union; attorney Ha Seung-soo; and Father Ham Se-woong.
