Gangbuk-gu, Comprehensive Survey and Maintenance of Road Name Address Guide Facilities

Complete and Ongoing Survey of 32,799 Road Nameplates, Building Number Plates, and Basic Number Plates... Repair of Damaged/Improper Signs, Expansion of Pedestrian-Centered Signage Installation, etc.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) will conduct a comprehensive survey of road name address guide facilities until November.

This survey is designed to maintain the road name address guide facilities in optimal condition so that residents and visitors can conveniently find their way using addresses.

The survey targets include 26,815 building number plates, 5,915 road name plates, and 69 basic number plates across 611 road sections.

The district will form inspection teams by zones to focus on the management status of guide signs and locations for additional road name plates installation. Based on the inspection results, facilities will be maintained, and pedestrian road name plates will be expanded mainly in alleys and intersections frequently used by residents.

In particular, by capturing real-time images with the smart KAIS terminal and inputting on-site survey data, the district plans to improve survey efficiency and enhance the reliability of facility information.

The collected survey data will be classified for maintenance and new installation, maintained accordingly, and linked to the National Address Information System database for tracking management.

Previously, the district refurbished 203 damaged or detached facilities and newly installed 496 road name plates last year.

Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Gyeom-su stated, “Since the road name address system was introduced to effectively respond to the rapid changes in the administrative environment, providing fast and accurate location information is more important than anything else. We will continue to maintain and expand the facilities so that residents do not experience any inconvenience when using the guide signs.”
