Gyeonggi Office of Education Selects 9 Schools for Field-Centered 'Apprenticeship Education' Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education

[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has designated and will operate nine schools this year to lead the Gyeonggi-do type apprenticeship education.

Apprenticeship education is conducted at vocational high schools and is a field-centered curriculum where students develop practical skills by alternating between school and companies.

The Gyeonggi Office of Education will operate apprenticeship schools under the subtitle "My Future Job Challenge Project" from next month until February of next year.

The schools designated this year are Gyeongil Tourism Management High School, Geunmyeong Girls' Information High School, Maehyang Girls' Information High School, Samil Technical High School, Sekyung High School, Ansan Technical High School, Ansan Design and Culture High School, Uijeongbu Technical High School, and Cheongdam High School.

About 130 students from departments such as Tax Accounting, Fashion Industry Design, Semiconductor Display, Construction Information, and Financial Management, along with 76 companies, will participate.

These schools open classes in units of 5 to 20 students, and students receive field-centered education by alternating between school and companies. Classes are organized in units of 3 to 7 days.

Students participating from March to October receive training allowances, and from November, if linked with on-site practice, related allowances are provided. Participating companies receive allowances for company field instructors.

There are Japanese-style and Swiss-style apprenticeship educations, and the government led the introduction of the Swiss-style in 2014, which was operated in some schools.

The Gyeonggi Office of Education prepared apprenticeship education suited to the characteristics of the Gyeonggi region in 2018, and until last year, 210 companies and 834 students participated.

The employment rate of third-year students who received this education was 73.5%.
