[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Gilsu] Jangseong Middle School is operating an Edu Bus this year following the introduction of Edu Taxi last year for students living far away.
Since many students live in rural areas and have long distances to travel to and from school, parents have been using their private cars to help their children commute. However, with the Edu Bus and Edu Taxi services, parents can now have some relief.
According to Jangseong Middle School on the 27th, Edu Taxi for long-distance students was operated in the 2019 academic year, and starting from the new semester of the 2020 academic year, the Edu Bus was also introduced, operating alongside Edu Taxi to take responsibility for students' commuting.
Jangseong Middle School plans to operate the Edu Bus mainly around apartment complexes in the city, and 13 Edu Taxis will be operated in outlying areas with limited transportation access.
To this end, Jangseong Middle School collected applications from those interested during the new students' preliminary orientation day. Afterwards, applications were also accepted from current students to organize the operation schedule and routes.
The introduction of the Edu Bus was largely due to the efforts of Vice Principal Kim Hyungsoo of Jangseong Middle School.
Vice Principal Kim said, “I hope that through the operation of the Edu Bus and Edu Taxi, all students and educational families can have comfortable and safe commuting. We will actively support education that gives hope to educational families, sharing education between teachers and students, and education that helps students grow physically and mentally.”
