Completion of First Full Survey under Mutual Cooperation with Shincheonji Yeosu Church
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the afternoon of the 26th, Kwon Obong, Mayor of Yeosu City, held an emergency countermeasure meeting of the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at the Yeosu City Hall Situation Room to check the response status following the escalation to the serious stage of COVID-19, the city announced on the 27th.
At this meeting, Mayor Kwon instructed to mobilize all available resources to make every effort to block the inflow of infectious diseases.
In particular, Yeosu City completed the first round of investigation on Shincheonji believers in cooperation with the Shincheonji Church in the area on the 26th to prevent and block COVID-19.
Before the government provided the list of Shincheonji believers, a preemptive full survey and identification of the list of Shincheonji believers in the area were conducted through mutual cooperation with the Shincheonji Yeosu Church.
The investigation was conducted by dedicated public officials and Shincheonji managers jointly questioning believers by phone to confirm whether they had visited Daegu, had contact with confirmed patients, or had fever symptoms.
The investigation targeted a total of 3,181 people provided by the Shincheonji Yeosu Church, and the first survey found that 10 people showed mild cold symptoms. Symptomatic individuals were initially examined at the public health center screening clinic, and specimen collection tests are underway based on the results.
Yeosu City plans to manage the 2,909 targets received from the government through cross-verification to ensure no one is omitted.
Yeosu City will monitor Shincheonji believers for 14 days, and especially if symptomatic individuals occur, immediate self-quarantine and screening clinic tests will be conducted to make every effort to block community infection.
Meanwhile, on the 25th, the Yeosu City Public Health Center temporarily suspended general medical treatment and health promotion services and began responding to COVID-19.
