[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 27th that it will recruit participants for the Returning to Farming Agricultural Startup and Housing Purchase Support Project until the 19th of next month.

This project has eligibility restrictions such as being born on or after January 1, 1954, being the head of a household, having continuously resided for more than one year in a non-rural area based on the date of moving into a rural area, and being the head of a household who has not passed five years since moving into the rural area, actually residing in Damyang and engaged or planning to engage in agriculture, and having completed more than 100 hours of returning to farming and farming education.

Those who have full-time occupations in industries other than agriculture or hold business registration certificates in industries other than agriculture (however, fisheries are allowed as a side business) are not eligible for support.

If selected as a support target, agricultural startup funds up to 300 million KRW and housing purchase funds up to 75 million KRW will be supported with an interest subsidy method at an annual interest rate of 2%, under the condition of a 5-year grace period and 10-year equal installment repayment.

Applications are accepted at the jurisdictional eup/myeon offices of the applicant's address.

The county plans to conduct an in-depth interview evaluation by the Returning to Farming and Returning to Rural Areas Activation Committee on the 25th of next month and prioritize support in order of high scores.

A county official said, “This is a good opportunity for returnees to farming to settle stably in agriculture and rural areas with startup and housing funds,” and added, “We hope many returnees to farming in the area will show great interest and apply.”
