On the morning of the 27th, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin stated at a regular briefing, "I heard the news that one person died just before the briefing," adding, "The deceased is a 74-year-old male who was subject to a full investigation at the Shincheonji Daegu Church."

The man underwent a COVID-19 diagnostic test by the mobile screening team on the 23rd. He tested positive on the 25th and was in self-quarantine.

A Daegu city official said, "The deceased had been experiencing fever and cough since the evening of the 22nd," and added, "He had received a kidney transplant over 20 years ago."
