On the 26th, over 90 Gwanak-gu employees participated in a group blood donation at Gwanak-gu Community Center... Contributing to overcoming the national blood supply crisis caused by COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) conducted a group blood donation event for employees on the 26th at the Gwanak-gu Community Center in collaboration with the Seoul Southern Blood Center of the Korean Red Cross under the theme "A Promise to Practice Love by Sharing Life."
This initiative was aimed at addressing the severe deterioration in blood supply caused by seasonal factors such as winter vacation reducing blood reserves, compounded by a decline in individual blood donations due to COVID-19.
The blood donation event took place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Gwanak-gu Community Center, with voluntary participation from Gwanak-gu employees and social service agents.
Given the sensitivity of the period due to the spread of COVID-19, the entire first-floor facility of the Community Center, the blood donation site, was disinfected the day before the event. On the day of the event, participants were urged to strictly manage personal hygiene by wearing masks and using hand sanitizer.
In March of last year, Gwanak-gu signed a "Love Blood Donation" agreement with the Seoul Southern Blood Center of the Korean Red Cross, pledging to participate regularly in blood donations at least once a year during times of blood supply difficulties.
Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, "I hope the voluntary blood donations of our employees will be a small help in overcoming the national blood supply crisis," and added, "Going forward, Gwanak-gu will continue to strive to establish a proper blood donation culture and make every effort to activate voluntary blood donations especially during times when blood supply is difficult."
