[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] US Delta Air Lines has decided to temporarily reduce flights to Korea, CNBC reported on the 26th (local time).

According to the report, Delta Air Lines decided to cut flights to Korea from 28 per week to 15 per week.

By route, the number of flights from Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota to Korea will be reduced from March 29 to April 30. Flights from Atlanta, Detroit, and Seattle to Korea will also be reduced to five times a week until May 1.

Delta Air Lines stated, "The health and safety of customers and crew members are our top priorities," adding, "We are taking multiple processes and mitigation strategies in response to increasing concerns about (COVID-19)."

CNBC predicted that other airlines might take similar measures due to decreased passenger demand. Previously, US airlines waived fees for changes to Korea-bound flight schedules amid the spread of COVID-19 infections.
