[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that one additional confirmed case occurred on the 26th.
This confirmed case is the husband of patient #869 (male, born in 1956, resident of Eunpyeong-gu). He was hospitalized at Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of pyelonephritis from the 8th to the 18th and was discharged. However, after his wife (#869) was confirmed positive on the 24th, he was placed under self-quarantine the same day and tested positive on the 25th.
He has currently been transferred to Samyook Seoul Hospital, a nationally designated isolation facility. He shows no fever or respiratory symptoms. His daughter and son, who are family members, tested negative after screening clinic tests.
The movement route is currently being investigated, and detailed movement routes will be disclosed once the epidemiological investigation results from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency are available.
Since the operation of the Disaster and Accident Countermeasures Headquarters on the 27th of last month, Eunpyeong-gu has been proactively implementing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
First, the emergency room and outpatient clinic of Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, where confirmed cases occurred, were closed, and the outpatient and day wards of Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital were temporarily closed. Emergency disinfection of all wards and rooms has been completed.
Additionally, in cooperation with Seoul City, a situation room was established within Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, and a TF team (48 members) was formed to promptly respond to disinfection, patient management, and hospital infections. One additional screening clinic building was installed at the Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Center. The 'Joint Management Task Force' operates with team leaders from the district office continuously monitoring active surveillance subjects and self-quarantine targets on a one-to-one basis.
Furthermore, to prevent transmission among children, the elderly, and in multi-use facilities, educational, sports, cultural, and senior leisure facilities have been closed. Health centers and volunteer disaster prevention teams have cooperated to conduct 468 disinfection operations in areas and businesses included in the confirmed patients' movement routes. Approximately 14,000 hand sanitizers and 180,000 masks have been distributed, and 300,000 COVID-19 prevention leaflets have been produced and distributed to prevent community infection.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, urged, “From February 1st, residents who were admitted to or discharged from Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital or Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital and exhibit fever or respiratory symptoms suspected of COVID-19 are requested to contact the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (1339) or the screening clinic at the local public health center (Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Center Screening Clinic ☎02-351-8640~1) before visiting the hospital.”
