[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) has formed a special quarantine team and is conducting comprehensive quarantine activities to actively prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community, following the government's escalation of the COVID-19 crisis level to 'serious.'
On the 26th, the 'Jongno-gu Special Quarantine Team' held a launch ceremony at the Hanuri Hall of the district office and consists of a total of 70 members, including 60 special quarantine volunteers who are well acquainted with vulnerable areas in the district and 10 senior volunteers.
They will complete safety training on indoor and outdoor facility disinfection methods, the use of disinfectants, and precautions before starting their activities in earnest.
The Jongno-gu Special Quarantine Team plans to carry out quarantine activities in multi-use crowded facilities and vulnerable facilities within the district, including Jongmyo Shrine and Tapgol Park. To minimize environmental pollution, they will use COVID-19 dedicated spray disinfectors and promote infection prevention guidelines to facility workers and users, also focusing on alleviating residents' anxiety.
Mayor Kim Young-jong stated, “Jongno-gu is a downtown area with a floating population exceeding 2 million people daily and a large elderly population, so we are paying special attention to COVID-19 prevention and quarantine.” He added, “We will expand testing targets and strengthen quarantine activities to do our best to wisely overcome this national crisis situation together with the central government.”
