[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Hong Kong has increased to a total of 89.

Local media such as the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on the 26th that 4 additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Hong Kong, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong to 89. Among them, 2 have recently died. There are 24 people who were diagnosed with COVID-19 and have recovered, and 1 person is in critical condition.

The 4 newly confirmed cases on this day include a 49-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman, a 16-year-old male who is the younger brother of the 21-year-old woman, and an 80-year-old man. The 49-year-old woman is presumed to have been infected at the Buddhist temple 'Bokhyejeongsa' located in the North Point area of Hong Kong. The 80-year-old man is believed to have been re-infected by his wife, who was infected with COVID-19 while attending this temple.

The 21-year-old woman and her 16-year-old younger brother were passengers on the cruise ship Diamond Princess, which was docked at Yokohama Port in Japan. The Hong Kong government sent a chartered plane to Japan to bring back 193 Hong Kong residents from this cruise ship, and they were quarantined in public rental apartments in the Pok Fu Lam area of Hong Kong. Since then, including 2 on this day, a total of 5 cruise ship passengers have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
