Munchangseop, Chairman of Samdeok Tongsang, Elected for 3rd Term as Chairman of the Shoe Industry Association Moon Chang-seop, Chairman of Samdeok Tongsang

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Samdeok Trading announced on the 26th that Chairman Moon Changseop was unanimously re-elected as the 15th President of the Korea Footwear Industry Association, achieving a third consecutive term.

Moon Changseop, Chairman of Samdeok Trading, was unanimously appointed by all attending members at the 2020 regular board meeting and general assembly of the Korea Footwear Industry Association.

Chairman Moon stated, "Given these challenging times, I will take on this heavy responsibility to establish and implement measures that will revitalize the entire footwear industry?from foundational industries such as raw materials, parts, and components to the finished product industry?and ensure a solid future competitiveness."

He added, "Although the footwear industry is a representative job-creating sector in the Busan region, there has been a lack of systematic development plans and institutional support for implementation. We plan to address these shortcomings and devise active support measures."

Chairman Moon plans to lead the industry by initiating innovative changes in footwear-related support organizations to overcome crises such as buyers relocating overseas. Additionally, quarterly meetings will be held for the footwear industry to share plans and performance and engage in discussions.

He emphasized, "The Korea Footwear and Leather Research Institute must devote all efforts to developing groundbreaking parts and materials that can be proposed to global brands and commercialized as hit products. The Busan Footwear Industry Promotion Center should cultivate design personnel demanded urgently by the industry with a long-term plan rather than a short-term perspective, training specialized technicians."

He continued, "The footwear industry has been a key export-driving sector that helped build our country's economy in the past. We must take pride in this and secure competitiveness suited to the global era, fostering and developing the industry. We will strive for the advancement of the footwear industry through continuous and innovative changes and actions to further promote job creation and economic revitalization."
