Kumho Tire Signs Joint Employment Partnership Agreement with Korea Polytechnic University

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kumho Tire announced on the 26th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for joint cooperation with five campuses of Korea Polytechnic University to foster specialized personnel in the tire industry and provide customized employment support.

At the signing ceremony held on the 18th at Kumho Tire's Sales Training Center located in Daejeon Metropolitan City, Kumho Tire announced that starting in April, it will hold employment briefing sessions for students from eight Korea Polytechnic University campuses nationwide. Additionally, for students who have a final intention to seek employment, Kumho Tire plans to provide expert tire training and then support their employment at nationwide TirePro and KTS stores, which are Kumho Tire's specialized distribution outlets.

TirePro is the first specialized distribution brand in Korea for passenger car tires, offering one-stop services including tire inspection and basic maintenance. KTS is a specialized distribution brand for large truck and bus tires, incorporating Kumho Tire's advanced technology. It provides tire recommendations and replacements for visiting customers, as well as specialized services directly related to tires by the industry's best-trained tire experts, maintaining high customer satisfaction.

To address manpower shortages at distribution stores and youth unemployment issues, Kumho Tire signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement with Woosong Information College in 2016. Until 2019, it provided specialized education and employment connections for graduates through the participation of 11 vocational colleges and 2 vocational schools. With this new joint cooperation with vocational education schools, Kumho Tire plans to expand employment support for its distribution stores.

Byungseok Lim, Executive Director of Korea Sales at Kumho Tire, said, "We hope that many students will have employment opportunities through this joint cooperation, and we plan to provide professional and detailed training courses for this purpose." He added, "We will create a virtuous cycle where schools and companies win-win through joint cooperation with more institutions in the future."
