[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Singer and actress Suzy has donated 100 million won in relation to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

According to multiple media reports on the 26th, Suzy recently donated 100 million won through the international relief and development NGO Good Neighbors.

Suzy is known to have participated in the good cause to support low-income groups facing economic difficulties, deeply empathizing with the seriousness of the COVID-19 spread. The 100 million won donated by Suzy is expected to be used for mask support and essential goods sponsorship for low-income groups.

In 2015, Suzy became the 791st member of the 'Honor Society,' a high-donor group of the Community Chest of Korea 'Fruit of Love,' and has continued her good deeds steadily.

Earlier, in April last year, Suzy also donated 100 million won to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association for victims of the wildfires in Gangwon-do.

Meanwhile, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as of 9 a.m. on the 26th, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 1,146, with 11 deaths reported.
