[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea surpassed 1,000 on the 26th.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of 9 a.m. that day, 169 additional domestic COVID-19 cases were reported compared to 4 p.m. the previous day. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 1,146.
Daegu and Gyeongbuk saw a sharp increase of 153 confirmed cases overnight, accounting for about 90% of the new cases. By region, Daegu had the highest number with 134 cases, followed by Gyeongbuk (19), Busan (8), Seoul (4), Gyeongnam (2), Incheon (1), and Gyeonggi (1).
