'Daimler Supplier Award 2020'
Winner of 'Inspiration Category'... Strengthening 'Top-Tier' Position

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics has been selected as an excellent supplier by the German automobile manufacturing group 'Daimler AG'.
LG Electronics announced on the 26th that it received the 'Inspiration Category' award at the 'Daimler Supplier Award 2020' event held recently at Daimler headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. This award is given to suppliers with outstanding customer value contribution and future vision, and LG Electronics received this honor for the first time since starting the related business in 2013.
LG Electronics explained that the vehicle touchscreens it supplied were highly evaluated for contributing to Daimler's ergonomic 'Human Machine Interface (HMI)'.
The company particularly assessed that this award is significant in strengthening its position as a top-tier automotive parts supplier by having its technological capabilities recognized by a global premium car manufacturer. LG Electronics established the VS Business Division in 2018 and has been supplying vehicle touchscreens to Daimler.
Daimler is one of the world's largest premium automobile manufacturers and the parent company of the 'Mercedes-Benz' brand. Daimler selects and announces suppliers who have provided outstanding performance and partnership every year. This year, among a total of about 450 suppliers, 10 companies were selected as excellent companies in four categories: sustainability, inspiration, quality, and innovation.
Gunnar Gutenke, Vice President of Purchasing and Quality at Mercedes-Benz, said, "In the rapidly changing automotive industry, close partnerships with suppliers are very important."
Kim Jin-yong, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics' VS Business Division, said, "This award is a great achievement recognizing our electronic components technology from a global premium brand," adding, "We will continue to provide differentiated customer value in line with future mobility changes."
