[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 25th that it officially launched the "Paraguay Aviation Workforce Capacity Building Project" to train civil aviation experts in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay, on the 24th (local time).
This project is being promoted as an Official Development Assistance (ODA) project by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) based on an agreement between the governments of Korea and Paraguay (Paraguay Civil Aviation Authority). The project focuses on constructing an aviation expert training center, aircraft hangars, introducing training aircraft and practical equipment, and establishing a mid- to long-term aviation education master plan and education system.
The capacity building project is scheduled to run until December 2022, with a project scale of 12.8 million USD.
Korea Airports Corporation was selected as the project operator in December last year and formed a consortium with the Korea Aerospace University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Hanseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation. They plan to dispatch related experts to the local site, intensively train instructors, and invite local personnel to Korea for training.
Son Chang-wan, President of Korea Airports Corporation, stated, "As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our founding this year, we are preparing a new vision as an airport group leading the future. While focusing our capabilities on resolving the government's COVID-19 issues, we will do our best to secure new growth engines through successful overseas business expansion."
