[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the musical 'Aida' performances in Busan have been completely canceled.

The production company Shinse Company announced on the 25th that all scheduled performances of Aida in Busan, which were set to open on the 20th of next month at Busan Dream Theater, have been canceled. The Busan performances of Aida were scheduled to run from the 20th of next month until April 19.

Shinse Company stated, "The national crisis alert level due to COVID-19 has been raised to 'Severe.' Accordingly, restrictions and recommendations to refrain from using multi-use facilities are being implemented, and public cultural facilities are closing. Therefore, Shinse Company has decided to inevitably change or cancel the scheduled performances in accordance with national policies to prevent and control the spread of the infection and to ensure the safety of the audience, actors, and staff."

Along with Aida, the performance schedules for the play 'Abeoji wa Nawa Hongmae wa' and the musical 'Mamma Mia!' will also be reduced.

The play 'Abeoji wa Nawa Hongmae wa,' currently running at Sejong Center S Theater, will close early, moving its closing date from the 22nd of next month to the 29th of this month.

The musical 'Mamma Mia!' will postpone its opening date from March 8 to April 7. The closing date remains May 31, so the overall performance period will be shortened by about one month compared to the original plan.

Shinse Company plans to cancel and refund paid tickets for the canceled performances without any fees, and announcements regarding this will be made at each ticketing site starting February 25.
