[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Jung-gu Council of Seoul (Chairman Jo Young-hoon) held an appointment ceremony for new legislative advisory committee members in the chairman's office on the 21st.
To address the growing importance of legislative matters and to efficiently process bills, the Jung-gu Council newly appointed lawyers Hwang So-young and Kim Ik-hwan as legislative advisory committee members.
With this, a total of five legislative advisory committee members will be active in the Jung-gu Council, including lawyers Jo Dong-seop, Kim Bong-ryul, and Park Hyung-sang, who were appointed last year. According to the current Seoul Metropolitan City Jung-gu Council Legislative Advisory Committee Operation Ordinance, the number of members can be composed of up to six.
The appointed members will serve a two-year term and engage in activities such as △ advising on legislative matters related to the enactment and revision of autonomous regulations △ interpreting related laws such as higher laws and advising on legislative policies △ conducting research projects supporting legislative activities delegated by the chairman △ council operation and bill review and processing △ and other legislative advisory activities related to the council.
Chairman Jo Young-hoon stated, “With the increase in legislative advisory committee members, I hope the Jung-gu Council can carry out more specialized legislative activities. I ask for active and meticulous advice during the two-year term for sincere and rational legislation that improves the lives of residents.”
The Jung-gu Council Ordinance Revision Special Committee (Chairman Kim Haeng-seon, Vice Chairman Gil Ki-young) is accelerating the ordinance revision work as part of realizing ‘resident satisfaction and happiness’ by publishing a collection of autonomous regulations covering about 290 ordinances subject to revision in January this year.
